Regarding scheduling, if you are working at a government school, they will set your schedule. Usually about 20 classroom hours each week, with some extra time planning or helping out here and there. Still lots of free time.

If you are teaching more private one-to-one lessons, these can be flexible throughout the day. I am fortunate to be in this position.

In the beginning of your teaching career, it is more take what you can get. Later, as you gain clients and experience, you will be able to pick and choose more and refine your daily schedule to your choosing.

At either end of the spectrum, there is never a bad hour in Phuket!

Thomas, Thanks for the wonderful description of your life as a teacher in Phuket. I am very interested in coming to do the same. I do have a question for you though. Do you have any say over your schedule? Or is it basically that you take what you get?

Either way may be fine for me, I’m just wondering what to expect.
