Course Description
Our course is a Thai government-approved TEFL course with 125 hours of training over 4 weeks.
Course days are Monday-Friday, and weekends are free time. The course
meets for 6 hours each day and there is additional time,
usually on alternate afternoons/evenings, for teaching observation and
practice. Most of our students easily complete their daily coursework
and still find time to relax on the beach.
The course is designed to give you both competence and confidence.
Although not required, we encourage you to particpate in as many
student teaching hours as possible....our students who take advantage
of this in-depth educational opportunity are far and away the best
applicants for the Asian job market. So we urge and encourage you to
participate in this free of charge extra addition to the course.
The course has 4 modules:
-
Core:
- Language Awareness – breaking down the nuts and bolts of English and learning what and how to teach.
- Teaching Methodology – strategies and techniques of effective language teaching, including lesson planning, the four skills, working with kids, etc. Some of the methodology time can be with real students depending on the schedule of the individual course.
- Practice Teaching & Observation – with real students and with real lesson plans so you can learn by doing.
- Thai Language – which helps put you in the mindset of a language learner – this is extraordinarily helpful as you begin to teach. The cultural portion is applicable to teaching applicants throughout Asia.
